Southern Lion Dance, Done the Traditional Way
We perform the southern lion dance, the style Singapore knows best, with routines drawn from both the Fut San and Hok San traditions. The lion is not a costume, it is a character. A good performance moves through moods: curiosity as the lion wakes, playfulness as it explores your venue, caution as it approaches the greens, and joy as it scatters prosperity to your guests. Our senior dancers have each spent over 10 years inside the lion, and it shows in the small things, the ear flicks, the blinks, the way the lion hesitates before the cai qing.
The music matters just as much. Our percussion team of 4 to 6 players drives the entire performance live. No recordings, no shortcuts. The drum sets the lion's heartbeat, the cymbals and gong mark its footsteps, and when the rhythm shifts your guests feel it before they see it.
What Happens During a Performance
A standard 20 to 30 minute booking follows a structure refined over generations. The lions wake and bow three times to honour the venue and hosts. They tour the space, greeting guests and posing for photos, children usually get the front row treatment. Then comes the centrepiece: the cai qing, where the lion works out how to reach the greens, eats them, and spits the leaves in a burst towards your door or stage, spreading luck where it lands. The show closes with a scroll reveal carrying an auspicious phrase, mandarin oranges presented to your VIPs, and a final bow.
Every element can be tailored. Companies often ask for the scroll to carry their own slogan. Some hosts want the lion to deliver a gift, reveal a logo, or lead a toast. Tell us the moment you want to create and we will choreograph it.

Frequently Asked Questions
How much does a lion dance cost in Singapore?
A standard single lion performance in Singapore starts from around SGD 588 to 788 outside peak season. Double lion performances, the most popular choice for openings and Chinese New Year, typically run from SGD 888 to 1,288. Prices rise during the 15 days of Chinese New Year. See our full price guide for exact ranges.
How far in advance should I book a lion dance troupe?
For most of the year, 2 to 3 weeks is enough. For Chinese New Year dates, especially the first 3 days, we recommend booking 2 to 3 months ahead. The auspicious opening slots between 9am and 11am sell out first.
Do you perform in HDB estates, condos and shopping malls?
Yes. We perform islandwide, including HDB void decks, condo function areas, shopping malls, hotels, offices and shophouses. We handle the venue's paperwork requirements and keep drum volume appropriate for residential settings when asked.
What is included in a standard lion dance performance?
A typical booking includes the lions, drummers, cymbal and gong players, the cai qing (greens plucking) ritual, a mandarin orange presentation to your VIP, and all props. Performances usually last 15 to 30 minutes depending on the package.
Are your performers insured and experienced?
Yes. Our performers train year-round and our troupe carries public liability coverage for events. We have performed at hundreds of openings, corporate dinners and CNY celebrations across Singapore.
