A lion dance in Singapore costs between SGD 588 and SGD 1,888 for most bookings. A single lion outside peak season starts around SGD 588 to 788. A double lion, the format most clients choose, runs SGD 888 to 1,288. During the 15 days of Chinese New Year the same shows cost roughly 40 to 60 percent more, with days 1 to 3 at the very top of the range.

What drives the price up or down

Four things move the number. The date matters most: CNY days 1 to 3 and weekend mornings are premium, weekday afternoons in June are the cheapest slots of the year. The routine is second: a floor routine costs less than jong pole acrobatics, which need extra equipment and senior performers. Third is the number of lions, each additional lion adds roughly SGD 400 to 500 with its two dancers. Fourth is logistics, though with most troupes, including ours, mainland transport is already included.

What should always be included

A fair quote includes the lions, at least 4 percussionists playing live, the cai qing greens ritual, a scroll or orange presentation, props and transport. If a quote looks cheap, check whether the drums are live, how many musicians are included, and whether cai qing is a paid add-on. Those three questions explain most price gaps between troupes.

Typical 2026/2027 ranges

Single lion from SGD 588 non-peak, from SGD 888 during CNY. Double lion from SGD 888 non-peak, from SGD 1,288 CNY. Opening ceremony with eye-dotting from SGD 988. Dragon dance from SGD 1,888. God of Fortune walkabout from SGD 288. Our full rate table is on the price guide page, and a WhatsApp message with your date gets you a fixed number within hours.

Sample Quotes From Real Scenarios

Numbers mean more with context. A retail shop opening on a Tuesday morning in June, double lion with eye-dotting, floor routine, cai qing and scroll: around SGD 988 all-in. The same show on the first working day after CNY 2027: around SGD 1,488 to 1,688. A landed home blessing on day 2 of CNY, single lion, 20 minutes: around SGD 888 to 988. A hotel D&D in November with two lions, jong poles and an LED finale: SGD 1,800 to 2,400 depending on routine length. A community festival with four lions, dragon and God of Fortune: SGD 3,500 to 5,000.

Every one of these includes transport, live percussion with 4 to 6 musicians, props and the ritual sets. That is the baseline you should demand from any quote.

Ways to Keep the Price Down Without Cheapening the Show

Flexibility is money. If you can host on a weekday instead of a weekend, you save 10 to 20 percent. If your CNY blessing can happen on day 6 instead of day 1, you save materially and the ritual value is identical, the fortune does not check the calendar that closely. Booking early locks the rate: our price freezes at deposit, so an October booking for February pays October prices.

What we advise against: cutting the percussion team, skipping cai qing, or hiring a two-man costume act. The difference between a proper troupe and a cheap one is painfully visible to every Chinese guest in the room, and openings only happen once.

Deposits, Balances and What Happens If Plans Change

Standard market practice, ours included: 50 percent deposit to confirm, balance on performance day, PayNow or bank transfer, invoices with UEN for corporate finance teams. One free reschedule with 14 days notice is common courtesy in the trade, ask for it before you book, any professional troupe will agree in writing. Severe weather at outdoor events should reschedule free, confirm that clause too. If a troupe resists putting any of this on paper, that is your answer about how show day will go.
