Chinese New Year Lion Dance Performances in Singapore
A Chinese New Year without the drums is just another public holiday. We perform CNY lion dances at offices, shops, factories, restaurants, condos and family homes across Singapore during the full 15 days of the festival, from the eve right through to Chap Goh Mei.
Every CNY package includes the cai qing ritual, mandarin orange presentation, and the thunderous drum, cymbal and gong accompaniment that lets the whole street know fortune has arrived at your door.
Popular CNY Bookings
- Office reopening blessing. The first working day after CNY, usually 9am to 11am. Our single most requested slot of the year.
- Shop and restaurant performances. Draw a crowd during the festive first week and give customers something to film.
- Company CNY dinners and D&Ds. A high-energy opener before the yusheng toss.
- Home blessings. A shorter format for landed homes and condos, with drum volume kept neighbourly.
- Community and grassroots events. Multi-lion shows with dragon dance add-ons for larger crowds.
Key Dates for Chinese New Year 2027
Chinese New Year 2027 falls on Saturday 6 February 2027, welcoming the Year of the Goat. The eve reunion dinner is Friday 5 February. Day 2 is Sunday 7 February, and the festival runs 15 days until Chap Goh Mei on Saturday 20 February. Because day 1 and day 2 land on a weekend in 2027, demand for those dates will be even heavier than usual, and the first working day for office blessings will be Monday 8 February, expect that morning to be the single most contested slot of the entire year.
If your company plans a CNY blessing, decide your date early. The pattern we see every year: October and November bookings get their exact preferred hour, December bookings get their preferred day, January bookings take what is left.
Why the Lion Dance Matters at CNY
The lion dance is older than the festival fireworks. The tradition holds that the drums, cymbals and the lion's fierce appearance chase away Nian, the beast of misfortune, clearing the way for a prosperous year. The cai qing ritual adds the second layer: 'qing' sounds like both 'greens' and 'fortune' in Chinese, so when the lion eats the greens and scatters them at your door, it is literally spreading wealth into your premises. Hanging the greens with a red packet is the host's part of the exchange, and we will guide you on how to set it up before we arrive.
For businesses, the performance doubles as a public statement: staff, customers and neighbours all see that the year has been opened properly. It is equal parts blessing, tradition and marketing, which is why the same companies book us year after year.
CNY Peak Pricing, Explained Honestly
Rates during CNY are higher than the rest of the year, and every troupe in Singapore prices this way. Demand for the first 3 days exceeds supply several times over. A double lion performance that costs SGD 888 in June will typically run SGD 1,288 to 1,888 on day 1 or 2 of the new year. Booking early does not just secure the slot, it locks the price. Frequently Asked Questions
How much is a lion dance during Chinese New Year in Singapore?
CNY performances carry peak pricing. Expect from SGD 888 for a single lion and from SGD 1,288 to 1,888 for a double lion during the first week, depending on date, time and location. The first 3 days of CNY command the highest rates.
When should I book a CNY lion dance for 2027?
Book by November or December 2026 for the best choice of slots. By early January, morning slots on days 1 to 3 are usually gone. We open our CNY 2027 calendar in October.
What are the most auspicious timings for a CNY lion dance?
Most clients choose the morning of the first or second day of CNY, between 9am and 1pm. For offices, the first working day after the holiday is the most popular slot, usually between 9am and 11am.
Can you perform at my office and my home on the same day?
Yes. Many clients book a two-stop package. We offer multi-location discounts when the venues are booked under one confirmation.
What does the cai qing ritual mean?
Cai qing, or plucking the greens, is the heart of the performance. The lion 'eats' a bundle of lettuce and spits it out towards the business or family, spreading prosperity for the year ahead. We include it in every CNY package.
